We normally receive a job specification via email and review the role before assigning the most appropriate Recruitment Consultant. Each consultant has a specialist subject area. At this stage we send a pdf copy of our Business Terms to the client.

Our consultants like to speak with the hiring manager so that they can fully understand the requirement and the type of individual who is best suited to the role. At this stage our consultants are able to share their experience of working on similar assignments. They can indicate suitable degree courses, likely salary expectations and how long it may take to produce a candidate shortlist.

We begin each assignment by searching for candidates who have registered with STEM Graduates. This gives our consultant’s a significant advantage over other recruiters as we are the only agency with access to our candidate database. It ensures that the first candidates that we identify for a role are unlikely to have been introduced by another recruiter.

We post each vacancy on our own website and on other specialist job boards to attract direct applications. We can also identify university courses that are relevant based on the job specification. Our university marketing team have relationships with departmental staff who are willing to promote vacancies to their current students or alumni.

Our consultant draws up an initial “long list” of candidates from the CVs that appear suitable. They conduct a thorough interview with each candidate and measure their technical and personal fit for the opportunity. At this point our consultant produces a “shortlist” containing the most appropriate candidates.

Once the pre-screening is completed we email the CVs belonging to the shortlisted candidates to the employer, commenting on each candidate's salary expectations and other relevant information. Our consultants then call the hiring manager to feedback on the search and to discuss each candidate’s suitability. At this point we are normally asked to schedule interviews.

We arrange interviews on behalf of our clients and remain in contact with the shortlisted candidates on a regular basis. Our consultants relay any significant information so that the hiring manager is aware of other interviews that the candidate may be attending and whether their role is the candidate’s preferred option.

Our consultants relay any offers to their candidates and can arrange start dates. We try to ensure that companies are aware of the likelihood that an offer will be accepted or not in advance. If required we can negotiate with candidates and employers or assist with the reference checking process.

We invoice companies for our “placement fee” on the day that the candidate starts work. Our business relies on repeat business and we provide a free replacement search on all placements. This provides piece of mind for our clients and is another reason why companies choose to work with STEM Graduates.

Free to view our candidate shortlist

Companies that request a shortlist of pre-screened CVs do not have to pay a fee unless they subsequently hire a candidate that we have introduced. It is free to compare our candidate’s against other applicants in the knowledge that a fee is only due if one of our candidate’s is hired.

Standard Terms – 18% full rebate

By default employer’s pay a fee that is the equivalent to 18% of the candidate’s basic salary as a placement fee. We endeavor to replace any candidate that leaves free of charge for a period of 6 months. If our replacement search is unsuccessful then we provide a partial refund against our fee if the candidate leaves within 10 weeks of joining.

Alternative Terms – 15% no rebate

Some of our client’s prefer a lower fee and are less concerned with the rebate period. As a result we allow companies to pay a fee that is the equivalent to 15% of the candidate’s basic salary. We endeavor to replace any candidate that leaves free of charge for a period of 3 months. We do not, however, offer any refund if our replacement search is unsuccessful regardless of when the candidate left.

Discounts

We are able to offer a discount when we make multiple placements with a company provided this has been agreed in advance. The exact level of discount is dependent upon the number of roles that we fill and the complexity of the search.

Then we’d like to automatically send a pdf version of our Terms and to receive a notification that they have requested for Terms to be sent. Our Business Terms are attached within this email.
