Meet our Event Sponsors - Bloomberg

Meet our Event Sponsors - Bloomberg

Popular

We are very excited to announce that this autumn Bloomberg will be sponsoring our UK Technology Event on Wednesday 15th September.

Ahead of the event, we wanted to catch up with Bloomberg to find out what attendees can expect to hear from them on the event day, and why they are excited to be sponsoring!

We spoke to Alissa Garland, Early Years Recruiter at Bloomberg.

Why have Bloomberg chosen to sponsor the STEM Women Technology Event?

“Women are currently underrepresented in STEM but we don't want to see that affect the diversity of our company. This means we need to work extra hard to attract and retain women in STEM from a relatively small existing pool, while doing our part to help grow and diversify the future talent pipeline through industry partnerships and our own initiatives.

“Events such as the STEM Women Technology Event enable us to educate candidates on our roles, opportunities and company culture, as well as demystifying the skills and experience we look for. They also play an important role in breaking down barriers brought on by stereotyping and thought patterns, such as imposter syndrome.

“As sponsor of this STEM Women in Technology event we are able to showcase the work Bloomberg is doing in Technology and also the impact Women have on this work.”

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

“I am looking forward to attendees getting to hear from Women across our business from Senior Managers to STEM Women alumni who we met at past events as well as the recruitment team who will be on hand to answer questions about our roles and opportunities.”

What sort of opportunities will be available to attendees?

“Attendees will have an opportunity to understand more about our business and the areas we recruit for through our Opening address, Panel Discussion, Employer Insight talk and through the chats on the STEM Women platform. Post-event all attendees will receive exclusive links to enable them to be first to apply for Insight, Internship and Full-Time Graduate opportunities across our departments.”

What are Bloomberg doing to encourage more women into tech?

“Bloomberg and Bloomberg Philanthropies work to encourage more women into Tech through a multitude of programmes.

“Bloomberg Philanthropies work with local communities in the cities in which we operate to up-skill students from K-12 including Women and Girls interested in STEM and Coding. We as Bloomberg employees have the opportunity to volunteer with some of these organisations, schools and students.

“Bloomberg LP work with students and recent graduates to educate and up-skill Women in Technology through a number of experiences such as Panel events, Up-Skilling sessions and more formal programmes such as Bloomberg Launch and our Insight Weeks & Internships.”
