Amazon Graduate Jobs and Graduate Schemes

Amazon graduate scheme

Amazon is probably one of the most famous companies in the world. Based in Seattle, Washington, Amazon was started by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online book store; since then it has become one of the biggest e-commerce marketplace and cloud computing platforms in the world. It is also a major player in artificial intelligence and is growing as a content creator.

Amazon offers a number of student and graduate programs in the UK, and abroad. Many of their UK graduate jobs are located in London in their HQ, but there are a number of roles within its ‘fulfilment' centres across the UK and in their three development centres in Cambridge, Edinburgh and London. They also have a fashion photography studio in Shoreditch and a data centre.

Amazon graduate application process

Amazon publishes its roles on its own website as well as job sites like STEM Graduates and STEM Women. Once you have found a role that is allied with your academic background, skills and interests, you will need to submit your application. Typically. the application process for amazon graduate jobs will follow this route:

  • Apply for role
  • Application review
  • Assessment
  • Interviews (phone, in-person or virtual)
  • Outcome

However, this process can vary, depending on the role. For example, if you are applying for a tech role, you may be asked to write a piece of code or provide examples of your work. Amazon has a huge resource available to help potential graduate recruits know what to expect and gives a helping hand to assist you through each stage.

The Amazon graduate program is competitive and, according to their website, they are looking for graduates who can embrace a high degree of ambiguity and work in a consumer-centric way. Those that work in Amazon are known as Amazonians and they have been ranked number 1 for the LinkedIn 2019 Top Companies in the UK. Amazon currently employs around 27,500 permanent employees across all its offices, ‘fulfilment' centres, research centres and data centres and their aim is ‘to be Earth's most customer-centric company.'
