We ran our first ever STEM Women Community Event on the 20th February 2018 at the Transport for London Museum and it was a fantastic success.
Over 100 talented women studying STEM subjects met with 8 inspirational employers including our event sponsor Amazon.
Students networked with employers and found out more about interships and graduate jobs with:
Sky Betting and Gaming
Attendees heard a welcome talk from STEM Women, Amazon and Facebook before a truly inspiring keynote speech from british structural engineer Roma Agrawal MBE. Roma spent six years working on the tallest building in Western Europe, the Shard, designing the foundations and the iconic spire. Following her six years working on The Shard, Agrawal found herself presenting on her work to children at school and students at university and found a passion for raising awareness of engineering. She has since presented to over 15,000 people worldwide. Agrawal's book, titled Built: the Hidden Stories Behind our Structures, an introduction to structural engineering, was published in 2018.
Attendees had lunch before networking with employers throughout the afternoon and listening to an engaging panel discussion.
The success of this first event meant we were able to launch a futher 8 events in 2018 across the UK! You can watch a video from the event below:
