Data’s one of our most important assets - In Data & Analytics, it’s our job to find ways to harness it so we can understand trends, get under the skin of our business and truly uncover the needs of our customers.
We promote the intelligent use of data and make sure it’s used in the right way - our mission’s to make sure we support the bank’s decisions with the highest quality data and analysis. In our new data science and innovation lab, we’re constantly finding creative ways to use data to solve our core challenges.

You’ll be rewarded with a salary of £21,500 pro rata, depending on location.

We’ll pair you with a buddy and a line manager for the full ten weeks, who’ll help you grow your network and provide you with all the guidance and support you’ll need.
The programme starts off with an induction day which covers:
- An introduction to RBS, our values and our ambitions
- Development workshops so you can hit the ground running
- Networking opportunities with your fellow interns and our business colleagues
You’ll then begin a unique ten week placement where you’ll enjoy:
- Being involved in day to day work with one of our client facing teams
- Attend a variety of development workshops
- Taking part in a business project
The business project’s a chance to complete research on a topic and come up with recommendations for improvement or changes we should make to better support our ambitions.
You’ll also work on a corporate social responsibility challenge by devising a business plan for our chosen charity; contribute to a valuable cause, too.
The challenge will help you gain confidence with skills like:
- Team work
- Planning and strategy
- Creative thinking
- Problem solving
.At the end of the placement, you’ll be assessed on what you’ve learned and, if you complete this successfully and you’ll be offered a place on our 2020 Data and Analytics graduate programme, where you’ll carry the skills you’ve learned from your internship forward, taking the next step in your career.
To be eligible for our internship programme, you’ll need to be in your penultimate year of a university degree, and on course to achieve a 2:1 or above.
