We are now recruiting for our September 2020 intake and are seeking for the following roles to join our London & South construction business, with offices in Cobham, Crawley and Dartford:
Management Trainee – Design
As a Design Trainee you will be directly involved in the design and project management of construction projects. Your career is all about managing the design process in relation to producing a set of drawings that a building can be built from. You will do this by working with architects and design consultants to complete the customers brief at the best value.
Management Trainee – Estimating
As an Estimating Trainee your career is all about using the design drawings and specifications provided by the customer to provide a total cost of the project. Estimators basically do all the sums to work out how much the building will cost before building work can start. They will negotiate with designers and supply chain partners to get the best value. Estimating is a good career for someone who likes working with numbers. Estimators have to be good at negotiating too, to make sure they get the best prices for materials, plant and labour.
Management Trainee – Mechanical & Electrical Services
As an M&E Services Trainee you will be directly involved in the successful design and project management of the mechanical and electrical packages on construction projects. These include crucial systems such as power, lighting, heating, ventilation, audio-visual systems etc. Your career is all about ensuring the M&E packages are designed, costed and installed correctly. You will do this by working closely with the design, estimating and project teams to ensure the customers’ expectations are met and, wherever possible, exceeded.
Management Trainee – Planning
As a Planning Trainee your career is all about planning the construction process, from demolition and laying foundations, all the way through to the point when the building is finished and handed over to the customer ready to use. You will do this by gaining an in-depth knowledge of all different types of construction methods and working closely with a number of other construction disciplines. If you like planning how things will happen, are a logical thinker, enjoy working with others and are good at explaining how things work in a clear way then planning may be for you.
Management Trainee – Quantity Surveying
As a Quantity Surveying Trainee you will be directly involved in the commercial management of construction projects. Your career is all about managing the costs of a project. This will include preparing tender and contract documents, weighing up commercial risks, procuring the best supply chain and managing payments for completed work.
The Management Trainee programme will provide you with a great foundation for a successful and rewarding career in construction; you will get exposure to all areas of our business to develop your understanding of the construction business as a whole, not just your chosen discipline.
The length of your programme will depend on your entry route but is generally between two and four years. On successful completion of the training programme you will be promoted in to an assistant level role within your chosen discipline and positively supported to complete a professional qualification such as RIBA or CIOB.
Our Management Trainees come from diverse backgrounds and qualification routes. We welcome all applications: from school, college or university or through building trades backgrounds or other relevant work experience. All that we ask is that you have a passion for building a career in construction.
