Get your career off to a flying start with our 10 week paid internship in Services.
You’ll gain real insight into the role of technology in our business and be perfectly positioned to join our graduate programme the following year.
About the business area
Technology’s crucial to how we function as a bank and serve our customers. How we harness its potential is vital to our future and achieving our vision. In Technology we work closely with all parts of the bank to understand customer and business needs and deliver cutting edge solutions in a dynamic environment.
Our highest priority’s to delight our customers with the delivery of valuable, responsive, reliable and secure products and services.
About the programme
Our aim’s to give you a taste of what it’s like to work here, along with valuable experience that’ll help guide your career choices.
We’ve designed our 10 week summer internship to give you direct experience of what we do in Technology, our goals and our ways of working.
We’ll reward you with a salary of £21,500 pro rata, depending on location.
The programme starts with an induction day, where you’ll learn about RBS, meet your fellow interns, and have the chance to talk with colleagues from around our business.
You’ll then begin your placement, where you’ll attend training workshops, get involved with our day to day work, and take part in a business improvement project. This’ll give you the opportunity to complete research on a topic and come up with recommendations for improvement or change to support our ambitions.
During the programme, you’ll also work on a corporate social responsibility challenge. This’ll help you to develop keys skills covering team working, planning, creative thinking, business plan writing and problem solving – all while contributing to a valuable cause. You’ll deliver your business plan on a specific day towards the end of the programme.
For the full 10 weeks, we’ll pair you with a buddy and a line manager, who’ll help you develop your network and provide guidance and support.
At the end of the placement, we’ll assess you on what you’ve learned. Complete this successfully and we might offer you a place on our 2021 Software Engineering graduate programme. From there you can carry the skills you’ve learned and take the next exciting step in your career.
To be eligible for our internship programme, you’ll need to be in your penultimate year of a university degree in a STEM subject, and on course for a 2:1.
We’ll be looking for people who wish to start a career in software engineering, who have a real passion for technology, and the drive to explore how it can be used to make a positive difference for our customers.
You’ll also need:
- A strong customer focus
- An innovative and creative mind set
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams
If that sounds like you, then why not apply?
