As one of Britain’s intelligence agencies, we unlock the complex world of communications to keep our nation safe. Collaborating closely with the intelligence community, we safeguard Britain’s people, interests and businesses from various threats. Think cyber-attacks, espionage, and serious organised crime. It’s varied and meaningful work that you simply won’t find anywhere else.
Now, we’re offering you the chance to join one of our technical teams, depending on your interests and skills. Wherever you join, you’ll constantly evolve, keep us one step ahead, and use the power of your ideas to protect a nation. You can’t get much more advanced than that.
Some of the roles we’ll be recruiting include the following:
- Infrastructure Engineer - You’ll design, implement, support and maintain a complex and technologically advanced IT infrastructure.
- Network Engineer - Designing, building, commissioning and supporting networks using a suite of network management, automation and software defined network tools.
- Information Assurance - You’ll support the delivery of government policy and help keep us at the forefront of technology, through auditing system accesses and documentation, helping manage or mitigate risk, or designing and building services using modern technologies and cloud services.
- Software Developer and Engineers - Responsible for maintaining, developing and delivering bespoke software solutions to automate manual processes and modernise legacy monolithic applications. In some areas of the organisation, there will be opportunities for Senior and Lead Software Engineers, with opportunities to lead on development, as well as mentor and develop others.
Across all areas, we’re looking for people who are self-motivated and enjoy solving challenging problems. It’s about having a passion to build on your experience while learning new skills and trying to apply them in the most creative way. At GCHQ, you won’t just work to understand the ins and outs of tech. With the support of our tailored training, you’ll push your inquisitive mind. Plus, with our smart working patterns, you can carry on living your life in a way that suits you.
At GCHQ, diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission. To protect the UK, we need a truly diverse workforce that reflects the society we serve. This includes diversity in every sense of the word: those with different backgrounds, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ways of thinking and those with disabilities or neurodiverse conditions.
