Join our ten week paid internship in Technology and get your career off to a flying start.
You’ll gain real insight into the role of technology in our business, and you’ll be perfectly placed to join our graduate programme the following year.
About the business area
Technology’s crucial in how our business operates and how we serve our customers; harnessing its potential is vital to our future and achieving our vision to be number one for customer service, trust and advocacy.
We work closely with every part of the bank to understand customers’ and business’ needs so we can confidently deliver cutting edge solutions.
Our priority’s to go above and beyond for our customers by delivering valuable, responsive and secure products and services.
About the programme
Our aim’s to give you a taste of what it’s like to work here and help you gain important experience to guide and inform your future career choices.
We’ll reward you with a salary of £21,500 pro rata, depending on location.
We’ll pair you with a buddy and a line manager for the full ten weeks, who’ll help you grow your network and provide you with all the guidance and support you’ll need.
The programme starts off with an induction day which covers:
- An introduction to RBS, our values and our ambitions
- Development workshops so you can hit the ground running
- Networking opportunities with your fellow interns and our business colleagues
You’ll then begin a unique ten week placement where you’ll enjoy:
- Being involved in day to day work with one of our client facing teams
- Attend a variety of development workshops
- Taking part in a business project
The business project’s a chance to complete research on a topic and come up with recommendations for improvement or changes we should make to better support our ambitions.
You’ll also work on a corporate social responsibility challenge by devising a business plan for our chosen charity; contribute to a valuable cause, too.
The challenge will help you gain confidence with skills like:
- Team work
- Planning and strategy
- Creative thinking
- Problem solving
At the end of the placement, you’ll be assessed on what you’ve learned and, if you complete this successfully and you’ll be offered a place on our 2020 Technology graduate programme, where you’ll carry the skills you’ve learned from your internship forward, taking the next step in your career.
To be eligible for our internship programme, you’ll need to be in your penultimate year of a university degree, and on course for a 2:2.
We’ll be looking out for curious, motivated and inquisitive people with a real passion for technology, and the drive to explore how it can be used to make a positive difference for our customers. It’s important to show:
- An innovative and creative mind-set
- Strong customer focus
- A knack for problem solving
- A willingness to learn and adapt
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
If that sounds like you, then why not apply?
